Built in 1962 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2008, the Gran Sol is bordered on one side by the beach, with the main entrance to the hotel opening onto the long pedestrianised walkway that connects Cala Bona to the neighbouring resort of Cala Millor.

The hotel has a total of 58 guest rooms spread over 4 floors and these consist of 51 standard twin rooms with a further 7 single rooms.

During the refurbishment the rooms were completely redecorated in subtle and relaxing tones, and are either air-conditioned or centrally heated according to the season. All of the guest rooms at the hotel have an en-suite bathroom with shower, bathrobes and hairdryer, a direct dial telephone with free internet access, a satellite TV, a safety deposit box which can be hired for an additional fee, a mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and either a balcony or a terrace. Many of the rooms have views over the swimming pool and gardens out towards the sea.

On the ground floor there is a sound-proofed TV lounge with sofas and coffee tables, and the hotel’s bar which is normally open from 09:00 until 01:00. Drinks are also available by the pool and on the top floor sun terrace, where the mini Spa with sauna, Jacuzzi, heated pool with jet sprays, and gym are located.

The air-conditioned buffet restaurant looks out towards the sea and can be found on the first floor. The hotel provides an extensive breakfast buffet, and a good variety of both local and international dishes are available in the evening. To complement the excellent cuisine there is an extensive wine list, including Spanish and Mallorcan wines.

There is a 24-hour reception service with currency exchange facilities and both luggage and courtesy rooms with toilets and showers for late departures.
