Maioris Golf Course - Golf Maioris

Golf Maioris, aerial view.

Golf Maioris, Mallorca is the vision of Romeo Sala, (who also owns Pula Golf in the north-east of Mallorca), and the German architect Dieter Cabus.

The 7,000 yard, par 72 championship standard course has been built to cope with the demands of a hot Spanish summer and remain in excellent condition all year around.

The layout has been carved between pine, olive and carob trees in a classic Mallorcan landscape. Golfers will enjoy the challenge of a course that features four lakes and two island greens.

Golf Maioris begins with a gentle par 4, played to a green protected by three sand traps. This is merely a warm-up for sterner challenges, although the track has been designed to offer playability to golfers of all levels.

Unusually, pine trees are situated in the centre of the fairway at the 2nd hole and there is some clever design greenside. Steep run-offs right, left and to the rear of the putting surface make precise approach play a necessity.

The 4th is the first of Maioris' par-5's and features an island green which will surely become a signature of the course. Most golfers will be able to reach this 539-yard hole in two, but for bigger hitters the margin for error between safety and water is slim.

The par-3, 13th is another classic hole. Spanning 166 yards, the green is set over water and is defended by a carob tree and a series of moulding.

You will need to commit completely to your shot to succeed here - a timid approach will be doomed to a watery grave.
