Andratx Golf Course - Golf de Andratx

Golf de Andratx - Logo. Mallorca.

Golf de Andratx, golf course. Mallorca.

Golf de Andratx is situated in the south western corner of Mallorca. The course winds its way through some breathtaking landscape, adorned with age old olive groves, almond trees and ancient Mallorca stone walls; all features of the course.

The 18 hole championship course is already well known as one of the most difficult and challenging in the Mediterranean, and is praised for its originality. The opening hole is a testing Par 4. A good straight drive is needed in order to give the best line into the green for the second shot, with the raised green being protected by a typical Mallorcan stone wall at the front. Hole 6, 609 meters from the championship tee, is the longest hole in Spain and one all golfers look forward to playing. It winds uphill, through trees and water hazards, and is fraught with danger. The tee shot from hole 8, shortly afterwards, offers a spectacular view of the bay in Camp de Mar and the hills around it.

The back nine holes are ensconced in the countryside and surrounded by pine trees.  An eye catching feature of this course is the contrast in colours between the three different grass types that are used. Even high handicappers will have no difficulty in recognising whether their ball is on the fairway or in the rough!

Seven ponds and lakes divided between six holes, and sixty snow white quartz filled sand bunkers ensure that even the most experienced players rarely return to the clubhouse with the same ball that they started with.

The course is irrigated with recycled water and rainwater collected in tanks. The Andratx Club de Golf also has its own desalination plant, ensuring the long term protection of the environment.

Between 1999 and 2012 Golf de Andratx had a compulsory buggy rule, and this was automatically included in the green fee price.  However, from the 1st of January 2013 this will change, allowing golfers to play on foot. The 60 golf buggies are still there for those who prefer to cover the 6089 meters of undulating golf terrain on four wheels, and from February 2013 these will be fitted with a GPS satellite system.  To make play easier, buggies will also be allowed onto the fairways.

A round at Golf de Andratx on foot is not the easiest due to large distances between green and tee, and the hilly terrain, and buggies are recommended for all but the fittest of players. Golfers taking buggies, whilst others walk, offers its own problems, particularly at busy times. However, Golf de Andratx have reassured us that they can control this, particularly with the help and assistance of all who play at this excellent course.

What Our Clients Say:

Elevated tee boxes and stunning views; many new water features under constuction, couple of par threes over water - great course! Difficult but fun. Aug 15

Best views from tee-boxes that I have ever seen. Jul 14

The design of the course is very special. Each hole has a feature, or features, that make it memorable. A very tough course, but when sitting in the clubhouse having a cold beer after finishing you will reflect on a golfing experience that rarely gets better (and I've played abroad a lot). Some tapas, and a cold drink in the halfway house, adds to the day. May 14

Great layout in good condition. Very helpful staff. Good course management required with many varied holes and shots. Also a far better experience now you can drive on the fairways. This is a huge plus! May 13

Really an exceptional course. Stunning views from elevated tees, and a challenging course. May 13

One of the prettiest courses I have played but with some very tricky holes. Greens in an excellent condition and speed of play perfect, providing you don't mind allowing the odd one-ball through. Jun 12

Good facilities but slow play due to the requirement for buggies, but given the distance between tee and green, buggies are a necessity. Not a big issue for us. May 12

Andratx is a testing course; several blind tee shots - easier the second time around. There are several tough tee-shots requiring a good drive to narrow fairways or lay ups. Aug 11

Stunning views, and a very interesting course layout, combined with some challenging holes. Golf de Andratx was in a good condition, and I would certainly play there again. Jun 11

The way the course is set out is excellent. Good challenging holes, and a nice stop on the 9th. May 11

This should have been the best course, but unfortunately it was poorly maintained and the speed of play was very slow. Oct 10

Intimidating tee-shots, big elevation changes, you have to play every hole differently. Sep 10

Great golf course with some brilliant holes, including the 18th. Great clubhouse and friendly welcome. Jun 10

Great tee shots, fun holes. Great design tested each shot. Possibly not for the high handicappers who might not like the need to 'make' the tee shot. May 10

Played it once last year, but wanted to play it TWICE this year. Oct 09

From arrival you get a good feeling and my god what a great course layout! Had so much fun, that it’s in my top three favourite courses! Sep 09

Course was in excellent condition and the staff very friendly. The elevated tees and hilly terrain made you think about how to play each hole, and they were all different. Jun 09

The course is tight and difficult, the greens were of a reasonable pace and the overall condition was excellent. The food and service was of the highest standard. Overall a great pleasure. June 08

Course condition was great. Layout was challenging but not unplayable even for 20+ handicaps. Oct 07

This is a very smart course in classy surroundings, with views of Camp de Mar / Andratx area. The course itself was in excellent condition. We also enjoyed a few rounds of German beers on the terrace which overlooks the 18th green. Oct 07

Well established and maintained. Some challenging holes. Buggies are essential as there are long distances between some greens and the next tee. Oct 07
